There is a hallway in my house that is rather long and narrow. My house is an old one, being built around the time of the Civil War, and has doubtless undergone several changes in floorplans. The end result is that it is difficult to find a rug that will even fit the passageway that now exists, much less one we like. We have hardwood floors and don’t want to cover them up entirely, so what is one to do.

Well, if you are my wife, you take up knitting, get a book called The Knitted Rug and have at it. It is still a work in progress, but it is a few feet long already. And since Gail picked out the colors for the rug, they will actually match paint colors we plan to use. Someday.
